Check out my book, My Poetry Bouquet. Here's a sample of a poem inside of it:

A Good Day Out

There's nothing as delightful as a good day out,

Visiting friends, or just alone muddling about,

Meeting for lunch or going to thrift stores,

Discovering places you hadn't known before,

Finding treasures to bring back home,

Actually enjoying your time alone.

There's nothing as good as a good day out,

Just getting up and just getting out.

Nothing as special as when the weather agrees

And people are smiling, and nature welcomes me.

Birds are chirping and squirrels are playing.

It's really quite special, always amazing.

There's nothing as special as a good day out.

Forgetting your cards, muddling about,

Enjoying a breeze that smells and feels

As if you're at the beach, feeling real

Salty and cool on your face. In some way

You're suddenly transported back to special days

Where you'd dig in the sand and look for sea shells,

You'd stare at the horizon. You remember it well.

There's nothing as special as a good day out

Where you are really in touch with all that's around

You, treasuring each of nature's gifts.

It gives you such an amazing lift

Of spirits where you forget your cares

And you're nowhere else but in that moment - just there.

Walking around on a pleasant day

Smiling and marveling at the way

People's expressions change when they see you smile,

Smiling right back as you pass them by.

Nothing can match a good day out

When life has a tendency to kick you about.

It's like escaping into a world of your own,

Whether with friends or just alone.

Try it sometime. You'll see you agree

That a good day out is like poetry

Where all things come together and lift your heart,

Mending the things that have fallen apart,

Healing sore hearts and righting again

Anything, everything that has given you pain.

At least for that moment, when you're out in the day,

At least for that second, worries melt away.

They're magical really, those special days

Where things come together in a certain way

And your spirit soars from where it's been,

When not just one, but everything

Feels good at last. That's a special time,

And I'd like to have more of mine.
