Epilepsy's Effect

My pain over having lost my mom nearly three years ago has been superseded by worry over one of my family members passing out about a week ago. Whether or not the family member passed out from abdominal pain at the moment or a seizure remains to be seen. This family member does have epilepsy - diagnosed about six years ago. Tests are being run, and Mama Bear's anxiety is at an all-time high. I'm hoping that everything turns out well, but I'm finally getting a taste of what many others with epilepsy go through - unexpected calls and trips to the emergency room, no driving for six months, depression accompanying it, etc. We had a good run without much problem for about six years and then - wham, bang - a tonic-clonic (known in the old days as a Grand Mal seizure) hit. So the smiles I usually wear are slower coming lately, but hopefully we'll get good news on Wednesday. We can only hope.
