Good Morning! Today, I'll be subbing elementary school music for the afternoon. I love subbing music! I get to play music games with the kids and teach them songs. I have sung for most of my life and was in select singing groups in middle school and high school, also singing in chorus and choir. I was in musicals in high school and in my first year of college, and I sang with The Alexandria Singers. I love playing games, too, so subbing elementary school music has been a good match for me.
I plan to do more writing tomorrow and over the weekend. I was relieved recently to find out that publishing houses often have their own illustrators that they'll use if someone submits a children's book idea to them. That opens the option up for me.
I have drawn since I was a child, too, but my drawings are not good enough to illustrate my own book, sad to say. I'll put one of my drawings at the head of this blog. It was meant to illustrate a poem I wrote about how my grandmother's big pot of crabs fell over and she had to chase after them, scooping each one up to put back into the pot. So, for those who didn't know it, publishing houses provide their own illustrators for books. Who knew? Not me.
So there's your nugget of information for Thursday. Have a great day!
